2016 4/22 Weekly Update

We will have our regular open play meeting this Saturday, 4/23, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the coffee shop area of the Books-A-Million store at the Lycoming Mall.

Our first ever inter-city competition with another chess club will be held on Saturday, May 14, in the Washington Room at the Genetti Hotel. Our opponents are from the Donald Byrne Memorial Chess Club in State College.

Our club’s next USCF-rated, three-round, quad-style tournament will be held tomorrow Saturday, April 23, at the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport. Registration has closed; we have 12 members competing in the tournament.

The annual U.S. Chess Championship tournament is being held at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center in Saint Louis. http://www.uschesschamps.com/

A very strong international tournament, the Altibox Norway Chess 2016, featuring many of the top grandmasters including world champion Magnus Carlson, is being held in Stavanger, Norway. http://live.norwaychess.com/
