2016 May Update

Our Williamsport Chess Club hosted the Donald Byrne Memorial Chess Club of State College in the first inter-city chess match in the history of the two clubs last Saturday. The event was a great success with many interesting games and more importantly, many new friends. Thirteen members from each club competed head-to-head over two games, swapping colors after the first game. The State College team took home the honors with a closely fought score of 14-12. A return match will be scheduled in the fall with our team traveling to State College.

Competing for the Williamsport team were: Solomon Francis, Sharvil Trifale, Mark Confer, Jim Cunningham, Pat Murray, Pallavi Trifale, Orlando Paris, Gary Inch, Bryan Stillman, Mario Pineda-Bermudez, Travis Corter, David Komar and Ray Sciacca. For State College: Vlad Getman, Jim Johnson, Amran Mardianto, Emily Hu, Micah Donohue, Sandy Breon, Jim Robinson, Costa Getman, Hart Gillespie, Prasad Krishnan, Sawyer McCarthy, Clayton Johnson and Jerry Bergman. Congratulations to all the players!
