  • Wellsboro Open: Three club members attended the Wellsboro Open tournament last weekend. Congratulations to club president Solomon Francis for tying for 1st place honors with Joe Mucerino, a friend of our club from the Reading area.
  • Chess Lessons: We completed our spring 2015 “Chess Lessons” program at the James V. Brown Libraryon Thursday, May 14, with a tournament experience for the students. Congratulations to all of the students for completing our chess program successfully and for competing in the tournament. 1st place honors and gold medal went to Caleb Kight with a perfect score of 3-0, while 2nd place honors and silver medals were shared between Jesse Kight and Ross Mahler. It was a very competitive tournament as we initially had a 4-way tie for second place requiring a blitz game play-off to select the two 2nd place finishers. Bronze medals for participation were awarded to (alphabetical): Avery Campbell, Elias Campbell, Marcus Domino, Milo Klopp, Dillon Read, Brett Reese and Austin Schwarzer. And a big note of thanks to the James V. Brown Library for providing door prizes for all of the tournament players. Photos: http://www.williamsportchessclub.org/?page_id=664
