Meetings: We will have our regular open play meeting this Saturday, 8/22, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the coffee shop area of the Books-A-Million store at the Lycoming Mall.

Chess Lessons: Solomon and Jim will be resuming their very popular “Chess Lessons at the Library” program on Thursday, September 10. We will meet from 5:30-7:30 in the Lowry room on the 3rd floor of the James V. Brown Library’s Welch Children’s wing. We have a beginner’s group for those who have very little or no chess experience and an advanced group for those who have gone through our beginners course or who already have a basic knowledge of the game and some playing experience. We recommend children entering the beginners group be at least eight years of age. While the program participants are mostly children aged 8-16 the program is open to adults as well, especially those young at heart. Please forward this information to anyone you know who might be interested in learning how to play the Royal Game.
