Club News Update September 2017

The Labor Day holiday weekend is here, best wishes to all our club members for a safe and enjoyable weekend. Now that summer is almost over, it’s time to focus on chess!

Club Meetings
For the month of September we will have our regular club meetings every Saturday morning, starting at 10:00 a.m., in the coffee shop area of the Books-A-Million store at the Lycoming Mall. Some members also meet casually for chess on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the cafe area of the Wegmans store in Williamsport.

James V. Brown Library Chess Program
Our popular child-focused chess program with the James V. Brown Library will resume meeting on Thursday, September 14, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Lowry Conference Room on the 3rd floor of the Library’s Welch Children’s Wing. Please share this information with any parents you may know who have children with an interest in the game of chess. Thanks!

Unfortunately, our club president and good friend, Solomon Francis, will not be able to participate as one of the instructors in the Library chess program this year. Club secretary/treasurer, Jim Cunningham, will continue as an instructor and is looking for an assistant. If you’re interested in helping Jim with the program, please contact him at: jim.cunningham@outlook.com or (570)772-9838.
