Saturday March 29th, 2014

We had a very successful tournament on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Books-A-Million store in the Lycoming Mall. Ten adults and six of our young aspiring grandmasters from the Tuesday night chess lessons at the James. V. Brown Library in Williamsport, PA. competed in three sections; Open, USCF under 1600 (U1600) and our first ever Scholastic/Youth section. It was a fun and exciting day and we’re already planning the next tournament event.

Solomon Francis, our club president, took first place in the Open section with a perfect score of 3 points. Gary Inch earned first place honors in the U1600 section, also with a perfect score of 3, while Pallavi Trifale earned 2nd place with a score of 2.5 and Mike Harvey finished in third with a score of 1.5. Zachary Wagner-Pizza earned first place in the Scholastic/Youth section, again with a perfect score of 4. Dillan Read took 2nd place honors with a score of 3, while Tixo Bower finished in third place with 2.5 points.
