USCF-rated Tournament Saturday, April 29, 2017

Our second USCF-rated tournament of 2017 was held Saturday, 4/29, at the Genetti Hotel with 14 participants. The tournament had two quad sections; U2300 and U1800, and a U1400 Swiss section with six players. Competing in the U2300 quad were club president, Solomon Francis, Joe Mucerino, David Han and Mikhail Postovskiy. In the U1800 quad section were Jeff Hoskavich, Alfredo Blas, Mark Confer and Jim Cunningham. The six competitors in the U1400 Swiss section were Gary Inch, club vice-president Pat Murray, Frank Monoski, Alex Postovskiy, Yargo Teixeira Gomes de Melo, and Kyle Steinke.

Congratulations to Solomon Francis for taking 1st place in the U2300 section with a perfect score of 3.0; Joe Mucerino finished 2nd with a score of 2.0 and took home the beautiful hand-crafted wooden chess box door prized donated by club member Frank Monoski. Congratulations to Jeff Hoskavich who took 1st place in the U1800 section with a perfect score of 3.0. Alfredo Blas and Mark Confer tied for 2nd with 1.5 points each. In the U1400 Swiss, playing in his very first USCF-rated tournament, congratulations to Kyle Steinke for taking 1st place, also with a perfect score of 3.0. Yargo Teixeira Gomes de Melo and Alexander Postovskiy tied for 2nd with a score of 2.0.
